Yet another article linking artificial feeding and diabetes. Artificial feeding causes diabetes is susceptible mothers and their children. This is not a disease to be messed with. Spread the message to every new prospective mother you know.

NO THEY DON'T. Breastfed babies are just normal, average, what's expected! Artificially-fed infants have learning deficits that make them less capable of doing well at high school and going on to attend college.
Breastfeeding is normal; compare everything else to the norm and then write up your results. C'mon researchers - tell it like it really is!

The breastfeeding advocate quoted in this article is correct. However I wish she had used correct terminology: eg. "We shouldn't be normalising something that caused illness and developmental delays to our children." Breastfeeding is NOT 'health-promoting' it's just the natural thing to do in all but the rarest circumstances, and doesn't CAUSE illness like the alternatives do.

Dr Smith has an excellent point to make here. "initiatives to improve infant health by increasing breastfeeding have described the importance of accurate language..."
My sentiments entirely. Breastfed babies aren't healthier, smarter, etc, they're just normal. It's the formula-fed baby that incurs health risks.

The Baby Friendly Initiative which supports the establishment of breastfeeding has also noted that babies who are bottle fed suffer a higher incidence of child abuse. Skin-to-skin contact in the first hours after birth has been found to increase breastfeeding behaviours and protect against abuse, and abandonment. Ahh those lactation hormones - they're good!
